Understanding how the delegates are “pledged” can be tricky. Below is a summary of the delegate assignment for West Virginia.
3 RNC delegates. These are the National convention delegates: State’s National Committeeman [Kris Warner], National Committeewoman [Melody Potter], and State Chair [Conrad G Lucas II]. Per the RNC site, this typically will vote for the winner but are not required to do so.
22 At-Large Delegates (AL). The 22 statewide delegates are elected on the Primary Ballot May 10th. The individual who receives the most votes statewide will automatically earn a spot to the national convention. The remaining 21 will be divided up as the top 7 from each congressional district. Of those 7, no more than 2 may be from the same county. See instructions on the ballot for the number of delegates and alternates you may vote for.
9 Congressional District Delegates (CD). 3 delegates will be elected per Congressional District on the Primary Ballot (May 10th). See instructions on the ballot for the number of delegates and alternates you may vote for.
